DALLAS — A 30-year-veteran firefighter died after collapsing while helping to battle a two-alarm house fire in northern Dallas, officials said.
Fire officials suspected Capt. Michael L. DePauw, 51, suffered a massive heart attack while fighting an 8 p.m. attic fire Thursday at the large two-story house. He was taken to Medical City Dallas hospital but could not be revived, fire Lt. Doug Dickerson said.
DePauw had been with the department since March 1972.
